There were many dances with live music at The Grosvenor in the 1950s, mainly with dance orchestras – but some were jazz artists, such as Leslie “Jiver” Hutchinson, a Jamaican jazz trumpter in February 1957 – with Miss Aylesbury 1957 also being chosen!
There was also Harry Bence and his famous Rock’n’Roll Rhythm in August 1956 – though Harry Bence was better known as a band leader.
